Servicing from the Niagara station: users, clock and backups

Once a FiOC-40 is in a Niagara station, many service tasks are done in one place: users, clock, application backup and device information. This note summarises what is done where.

In a project that uses Niagara N4, integration, programming and service of the FiOC-40 can all be done from the same environment, so you do not have to switch to another tool for each task.

Users

Device users and roles can be managed from the station, and users can be kept in sync across several devices.

Clock and schedules

The device clock and time zone are set from Niagara; schedules on the device are mapped to the station’s schedules.

Application and backup

The application can be read from or written to the device, and a service backup can be created and restored. The software components on the device can be compared with those on the PC. A missing component can stop points or views from opening, and this comparison shows the cause quickly.

Device information

Channel status, IP address, MAC address, serial number and registration details are shown on the device view. There are separate views for logs and history too.

Handover package

When the project is handed over, we recommend including both the station backup and the device backup in the handover package. These backups allow a quick return after a fault or a change.
