Reading the front-panel LEDs

The front-panel LEDs on FiOC-40 and FiO-40 show the state of every channel by colour. This note summarises what the colours mean, so that on site it is clear at a glance what is working and where a fault is.

When the device is powered, all LEDs play a short start-up animation. After that each LED shows the state of its own channel.

Device LEDs

  • PWR: white while the device runs, green while a phone is connected over Bluetooth.
  • BUS and ETH: show the RS-485 line and the Ethernet link. They are driven directly by the hardware and are not affected by settings.

Digital inputs (DI)

  • Green: input active.
  • Blue: input active in reverse mode.
  • Orange flash: each pulse on an input used as a counter.

Universal inputs (UI)

  • Green or blue blinking: analogue reading within range.
  • Steady turquoise: reading at the top of the range.
  • Orange: temperature sensor working normally.
  • Red: sensor shorted (steady) or open (blinking); a 2–10 V or 4–20 mA signal below its lower limit.

Outputs (DO and FIO)

  • DO: green or blue while the output is on.
  • FIO analogue output: purple blinking within range, steady purple at the top.
  • Orange FIO on FiO-40: communication was lost and the channel went to its defined default value.

Including what the LEDs show in a fault report helps to locate the source of the problem.
