Coselium devices connect to Niagara N4 with the Coselium for Niagara N4 modules. The modules run on Niagara 4.12 and later; the module version is stated in the delivery package.
1. Direct connection: no station needed
If your service PC is on the same network as the device, you can connect to it directly from Niagara Workbench; its IP address and user details are all that is needed. This path is for quick programming, checking the application, reading it from or writing it to the device, and taking backups.
2. Station driver: continuous monitoring
If the device must be monitored continuously and integrated with the supervisory system, it is added to a Niagara station. Once the modules are installed:
- The Coselium network is added to the station.
- The device is discovered in the station or added by hand.
- Inputs, outputs and counters are brought into the station as points.
- Schedules on the device are mapped to the station’s schedules.
The points shown in the station depend on the application on the device. When the application changes, the points need to be discovered again in the station.
Working remotely
Through the station you can also connect to and program the devices behind it; the service PC does not need direct access to the device network.
Things to watch
- The station and the device must reach each other over the IP network.
- The user who connects needs sufficient rights.
- Changes made live affect real outputs.
- A backup should be taken before restoring or changing the application.
