Sending FiOC-40 data to a remote system with MQTT

To bring field values into a cloud dashboard, an energy monitoring tool or your own application, you can use MQTT. What does MQTT give you on FiOC-40?

MQTT is a widely used way for devices to send their data to a central server (broker). Dashboards, energy monitoring and mobile apps read the data from that server. FiOC-40 supports MQTT without an extra licence.

What it gives you

  • Values in the application, such as temperatures, states and meter readings, are sent to the broker regularly.
  • Values you allow (for example a setpoint) can be changed remotely.
  • Each device is identified by its serial number, so data from several devices never gets mixed up.

Security

The connection can be encrypted with TLS, which stops data sent over the internet from being read or altered. The certificates are uploaded from the device’s web interface. For use over the internet we recommend the encrypted connection.

Setup

MQTT is set up with Coselium Workbench while the application is prepared: the broker address and login details are entered. Setup is carried out by our dealers as part of your project.

For the device to reach the broker, the address, gateway and DNS settings on the IP Network page of the web interface must suit the site network.

Detailed technical values are given in the product datasheet; our dealers can assist you with your project.
