Backing up before maintenance and updates

Backing up the device before changing the program or updating the software lets you go back easily if something goes wrong. What gets backed up, and how is it restored?

The control program and settings running inside FiOC-40 can be backed up in one step with Coselium Workbench or Niagara N4. The backup file is kept on your computer and restored to the device when needed.

When to take a backup

  • Before changing the program
  • Before updating the device software
  • When commissioning is finished, as a handover record

Software updates

Updates are done from the web interface; your settings and files are kept. The device restarts during the update and outputs and communication stop briefly, so it is best done at a time when the building is not affected. Only update files supplied by Cosel should be used.

Short handover checklist

  • A current backup, stored in the project folder
  • The device’s IP address, noted down
  • Once commissioning is finished, the device’s Bluetooth connection switched off

Detailed technical values are given in the product datasheet; our dealers can assist you with your project.
