When 40 points are not enough: expanding FiOC-40 with FiO-40

A large air handling unit or a panel serving several pieces of equipment can exceed 40 points. How to keep control on one device and add points with FiO-40 modules.

FiOC-40 has 40 inputs and outputs. When a panel needs more, instead of adding a second controller the control program stays on the FiOC-40 and the extra points come from FiO-40 modules.

How it connects

  • Over RS-485: The FiO-40s are daisy-chained on the FiOC-40 RS-485 line, each with its own address.
  • Over Ethernet: The FiO-40s connect to the same network switch and the FiOC-40 reaches them by IP address.

Nothing is programmed on the FiO-40; the FiOC-40 uses the extra points like its own.

How many?

In projects we recommend up to four FiO-40s per FiOC-40. The project preparation tool our dealers use distributes the points from the equipment list over the devices by this rule and prepares the bill of materials.

What the BMS sees

The BMS or Niagara sees the FiO-40 points through the FiOC-40 as well, so on site you manage one controller and one program.

Detailed technical values are given in the product datasheet; our dealers can assist you with your project.
